Short Storyline
Lorie Walker (Meagan Good), is a small town girl with big dreams. Raised by her grandmother Valerie (Ruby Dee), Lorie often daydreams of becoming a professional dancer. After a long day of work at the bookstore with Ms. Patricia (Lisa Raye), she visits a nightclub with her sister Stacey (Lamyia Good) and runs into an old friend Khloe (Haylie Duff). Khloe introduces Lorie to Shark (Adam Senn), who is in town to shoot Khloe’s boyfriend’s (Max Minelli) music video. Shark invites Lorie to the set and in little time turns her into his protege. Lorie moves to Los Angeles and is featured in all major music videos for artists including So Flii (Bobby Valentino), Hoobastank, and Brainchild (Juelz Santana) where she is asked to leave the set. While away in Los Angeles, her sister Stacey is killed during an altercation between her boyfriend CK (Bun-B) and another guy.
She is interviewed by radio personalities (Angie Martinez and Claudia Jordan) regarding her quest to fame as the highest paid chick in the game. While she admits to her relationship with Shark, despite the abuse, she does not see this as the reason for her success. Lorie may have not known in advance that her new face paced career would lead her to long nights of drinking and drugs. After her point of rock bottom and being raped by a film producer (Paul Ben Victor) who was selling her the idea of featuring in his next film, Lorie returns home. She turns to long time friend Jason (Datari Turner) to sponsor her in a counseling program. She commits to her new sober life and attempts to start her career over.
